Privacy policy
MasjidGo is published by OneCity Technologies Pvt. Ltd., Bengaluru, India ("we", "us"). This policy explains what the app collects, why, and what control you have over it. We have written it in plain language rather than legal boilerplate, because a policy nobody can read protects nobody.
The short version: MasjidGo needs your location to tell you when to pray and which masjids are near you. It does not show advertisements, does not track you across other apps, and does not sell your information to anyone.
1. What we collect

What we do not collect. We do not collect your name, email address, contacts, call logs, messages, browsing history, or any advertising identifier. There is no advertising network and no third-party analytics or crash-reporting SDK in the app. We do not build a profile of you and we do not sell or rent your information to anybody, for any price.
2. How location is used
Location is the one permission MasjidGo genuinely depends on, so it deserves a section of its own.
- Your coordinates are sent to the Aladhan prayer-times service to calculate the day's timings for your position, and are also converted into a city name so the app can show you where it thinks you are.
- Your coordinates are sent to our database to find masjids within a radius of you.
- The Qibla compass uses your coordinates on the device itself to work out the bearing to the Kaaba. Nothing leaves your phone for this.
- If you save a home location, the distance between it and your current position is measured to tell you whether you are travelling. Where you set your home is stored on your phone, and also on your account if you are signed in.
MasjidGo does not track your location in the background, does not keep a history of everywhere you have been, and does not share your location with advertisers. You can withdraw location permission at any time in Android Settings → Apps → MasjidGo → Permissions.
3. What stays on your phone
A good deal of the app never leaves your device at all. The following are stored locally and are deleted when you uninstall MasjidGo:
- Your theme (light, dark or automatic) and chosen language
- Notification settings for each prayer and the Jumuah reminder
- Cached prayer times, so the app still works without a network
- Your prayer tracker, streak and saved favourites
- Your saved home location
Azan reminders are scheduled by your phone's own alarm system. There is no push-notification server, so we do not know when or whether a reminder was delivered.
4. Who else receives data
MasjidGo relies on a small number of outside services. Each receives only what it needs to do its job.

We may also disclose information if we are legally required to by a valid order from a court or authority in India, or where it is necessary to protect the safety of a person. If OneCity Technologies is ever acquired or merged, this data may transfer to the successor organisation, which would remain bound by this policy.
5. Security
All communication between the app and our servers travels over HTTPS, so it is encrypted in transit. Information stored on our behalf by Supabase is protected by row-level security rules, so one person's account cannot read another's private records. Access to the administration panel is restricted to a small number of verified accounts.
No system is perfectly secure, and we will not pretend otherwise. If a breach ever affects your information, we will notify affected users and the relevant Indian authorities as the law requires.
6. How long we keep it
- Account records are kept while your account exists, and removed when you ask us to delete it.
- Masjid listings are kept indefinitely, because they serve the community rather than the person who submitted them. If you delete your account, the masjid stays on the map but is no longer linked to you.
- Check-in and travel records are removed with your account.
- Data on your phone disappears the moment you uninstall the app.
7. Your choices and rights
Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, and as a matter of ordinary decency, you may:
- Ask what information we hold about you
- Ask us to correct anything that is wrong
- Ask us to delete your account and the data attached to it
- Withdraw the location permission, or any other permission, at any time from Android Settings
- Turn off any or all prayer notifications inside the app
To make a request, write to monu@onecity.co.in from the number or account you use in the app, or follow the steps on our data deletion page. We answer within 30 days.
8. Children
MasjidGo is a general-audience app for anyone who prays. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. A child may of course use the app's prayer times, Quran and adhkar without any account at all. If you believe a child has created an account, write to us and we will remove it.
9. Changes to this policy
If we add a feature that changes what the app collects, we will update this page and change the "last updated" date at the top. Significant changes will also be announced inside the app. Continuing to use MasjidGo after a change means you accept the updated policy.
10. About this website
This website is a set of plain pages with no accounts, no comment forms and no shopping. It sets no cookies, runs no analytics, and does not attempt to identify you. Our web host records standard server logs, including IP addresses, as every web server does.
The pages load their typefaces from Google Fonts, so your browser makes a request to Google's servers when you visit, and Google receives your IP address as part of that request. This is handled under Google's own privacy policy. Nothing else on these pages contacts a third party.
